The Overview

The Porsche 911 or “901” as it was referred to early on started life on the desk of “Butzi” Porsche as a simple sketch in 1959. From there it was perfected over a number of years, all culminating into a prototype that was publicly viewed for the first time at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1963. The first 84 units produced were called 901’s, but only after a legal dispute with Peugot was the model changed to 911. In 1964, production began, and it was then that the 911 started a journey that has yet to end. Every year since its first, the 911 changes a little. Through success on the road and track it can trace its modern day success to its roots of the early SWB cars that carry the essence of its original intent.  As the 50th anniversary for this distinguished model is upon us, it is no surprise these rear engine performers are continuing to win the hearts of many.  The 911 on offer here is just that, a pure driver’s car, but in well restored show quality form.
This example, Chassis # 305518 is a very late 66’ production car and shows by its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity to still retain its original numbers matching engine. It also sports a wood wheel, Blaupunkt radio, Weber Downdraft Carburetors, and rare “S” exterior trim. A well optioned example and also the beneficiary of a comprehensive total restoration carried out only a few years ago. Finished in Irish Green with Tan hides, this 911 was completed to a very high standard and is incredibly correct throughout with straight panels, superb workmanship and totally rebuilt mechanicals. Sitting on fresh Vredestein Tires, this 911 starts easily, sounds strong, and pulls even stronger under full throttle; a quick and nimble little car that won’t disappoint.
Indeed an opportunity worth much consideration by any serious Porsche collector, or the discerning enthusiast looking for a superb example to show, tour, and enjoy.
